*** CLICK WEBLINK ABOVE TO VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE*** Kimberley Kay Ferris, age 15 of Rapid City, died Tuesday July 26th, 2011 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital, from injuries received in a tragic accident. Visitation will be held 3:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, July 31st at the Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche, with Pastor Paul Howard officiating. Interment will take place in Bear Butte Cemetery, in Sturgis where she will be buried next to her grandfather, Junior Bennett. Kimberly was born March 19, 1996 in Spearfish. She was the daughter of Richard and Marilea (Bennett) Ferris. Kimberly’s first home was near Arpan, and in 2000 she moved with her family to Moorcroft WY, where she attended first grade. In 2003 the family moved to Belle Fourche where Kimberly attended school through her 5th grade year. Since 2007, Kimberly has lived in Rapid City. She attended Dakota Middle School, and she just completed her freshman year at Rapid City Central High School. She dearly enjoyed school and her many friends, as well as being active in FFA, 4 H, Cobbler to Cobbler mentoring program, and SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions). Kimberly was a loving and respectful young lady whose beauty shined inside and out. She was the type of person who could fit into anybody’s world; her smile brightened a room and her laugh took your worries away. Kim adoring loved her mother and all that she taught her, most of all the importance of family and showing compassion for those around her. She loved packing a rifle on hunting trips with her father in search of elk, deer, antelope, even moose, and was thrilled when she recently was chosen for a mountain goat tag. In a blink of an eye she was out of her camo, dolled up and laughing and conversing with friends, always passing her great sense of humor along. During the year, particularly the summer Kimberly’s brother, Tyler kept Kim and their sister Alison busy doing chores around the ranch, and diligently working with their animals in preparation for county fair where she exhibited market lambs and beef. She idolized her brother not only for their close relationship but teaching her the importance of hard work and honesty and the simple rewards those characteristics bring. Kim shared with Alison one of a kind sisterhood. Whether they were cleaning pens during lambing, listening to music or admiring the pretty things in life, they were together through the thick and the thin. Kimberley also enjoyed baking and canning which were taught to her and many times done beside her grandmother Lucille, especially the days they made jelly. Kimberly cherished her family and made them extremely proud by being a donor for Life Source, so that others may heal. She adored her Auntie Elaine Jensen and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her smile and love will never be forgotten. Kimberly is survived by her mother, Marilea Ferris of Rapid City; father, Richard Ferris of Moorcroft WY; brother, Tyler Ferris of Rapid City; sister, Alison Ferris of Rapid City; maternal grandmother, Lucille Bennett of Belle Fourche; paternal grandparents, Chuck and Winnie Ferris of Deadwood; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Junior Bennett; and uncle, Duane Bennett.
