*** Click link above to view video tribute **** Gordon E. Romness age 67 of Belle Fourche, died Monday October 24, 2011 at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Sturgis. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 pm Thursday at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.  The funeral service will be held 10:30am Friday October 28th, 2011 at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche, with Rev. Jeff Otterman officiating.  Interment will take place at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, with Military Honors provided by the Belle Fourche Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials are requested to the Black Hills Roundup Chutes for Charity. Gordon Edward Romness was born September 20, 1944 in Missoula, Montana.  He was the son of Palmer and Alma (Ray) Romness.  Gordon grew up on the family dairy farm near Clinton, Montana.  He was a 1963 graduate of the Missoula County High School.  During the Vietnam War, Gordon served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1975.  During part of this time he was stationed in Germany where he was an ambulance driver.  On October 6, 1973 Gordon was united in marriage to Ellie Fanto, in Missoula Montana.  To this union, 2 children were born: Kim and Shannon.  Following their marriage, Gordy drove truck for a cement company and in 1974 they moved to the Ovando MT area where Gordy worked as a ranch manager for John Martin.  In 1982 he purchased his uncle’s ranch located near Lodgepole.  In 1989 they moved to Spearfish where Gordy worked for the forest service for 10 years.  In 2002 Gordy and Ellie moved to Belle Fourche where they have lived since. For several years Gordy has fought Pulmonary Fibrosis, and during all these years of struggle he has been a fighter and a man of optimism.  Gordy will be remembered for being an honest man, a hard worker, and for his love.  He loved his family very much and was very proud of his girls and his grandchildren.  In his younger years he enjoyed participating in many rodeos as a saddle bronc and bull rider.  He loved working outside and traveling with his best friend and bride of 37 years, Ellie.  He was a good man will be greatly missed. Gordon is survived by his wife, Ellie of Belle Fourche; daughters, Kim (Geno) Bonomo of North Platte NE, Shannon (Ivan) Davis of Belle Fourche; mother, Alma Romness of Belle Fourche; 3 grandchildren, Tye and Serena Davis, Isabella Bonomo; and his brother, Gary (Else) Romness of Norway.
