Pershing "PJ" Cook

Pershing John Cook “P.J.”, age 39 of Rawlins WY, died Saturday February 7, 2015 at his home in Rawlins. The funeral service will be held 11am Friday, February 13th, 2015 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Interment will take place in Pine Slope Cemetery, in Belle Fourche. Pershing John Cook was born May 16, 1975, in Belle Fourche, SD. He was the son of Charles and Gail (Parson) Cook. PJ was raised in Belle Fourche until he was 9 years old. He later moved with his family to Sparta, North Carolina where he graduated from high school in 1994. PJ was an active member of the Boy Scouts, and eventually he achieved his goal of becoming an Eagle Scout. PJ loved to laugh and made those around him laugh. He was kind to every person he ran into and always made people smile. He was favored amongst his friends, as everyone loved PJ. He was admired for his strong work ethic. PJ will be remembered for being very generous towards his family and friends. He loved to play the guitar and enjoyed music. He served a 2 year Mission from 1994-1996 for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving the people in the Santa Rosa, California Mission. PJ loved to read and had a strong desire to learn. PJ earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 2001 from Brigham Young University-Hawaii in English and graduating with honors. He earned a Master’s Degree in Technical Writing from the University of Minnesota at Mankato in 2013, which was a proud achievement in his life. Since then, he has lived in Rawlins Wyoming. He will be missed by his family and friends. PJ is survived by his parents, Charles and Gail Cook of Farson WY; sisters, Tiffany (James) Jacobson of Spanish Fork UT, Danae (Josh) Dean of Maui Hawaii and their daughters, Ella and Gracie. He is also survived by aunts and uncles and cousins, and his former wife, Erin Cook of Rawlins WY. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, PJ and Darlyne Cook; and uncles, Carl and Doug Cook.
