LaDonna Jean Carbajal age 60 of Belle Fourche, died Wednesday February 18, 2009 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am Monday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Belle Fourche with Father Dan Juelfs, and Father Godfrey Muwanga Celebrants.  A Vigil service will be held 7pm Sunday at the church.  There will be no visitation.  Interment will be held in St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery, in Belle Fourche. Arrangements have been entrusted to Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.   In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial to the Compassion House where LaDonna stayed during her care in Rochester MN.  Please make checks payable to Anthony Carbajal – 4408 W. LaDonna Jean Eixenberger was born August 2, 1948 in Belle Fourche, SD.  She was the daughter of Edward and Betty (Dyke) Eixenberger.  LaDonna grew up in Belle Fourche and also New England, ND where she graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School.  In August of 1972 she was united in marriage to Felix Carbajal Jr. in Rapid City.  Following their marriage they lived in Belle Fourche.  LaDonna worked as a dental technician with Dr. Schneller of Belle Fourche and later she became a Licensed X-Ray technician at the Belle Fourche Health Care center.  In 1996 she and Felix moved to Sheridan, WY where they lived until 2004 when they returned to Belle Fourche.  LaDonna was an active member of  St. Paul’s  Catholic Church.  She was an avid gardener and she enjoyed reading, drawing, camping, and cooking large family dinners.  She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and family.   She and Felix retired in Sundance WY in 2006. For the past several months, LaDonna has fought against cancer.  She was strong and courageous and even during times of intense pain or a discouraging report her faith and sense of humor never waivered.  She would turn her discouragement into encouragement for others.  She was an exceptional wife, mother, sister, grandmother, mentor and friend.  She will be missed by many.  LaDonna is survived by her husband, Felix of Sundance WY; daughters, Amy Fierro of Rapid City, Malynda (Jeremy) Wolf of Belle Fourche, Felicia and Bethany Carbajal both of Rapid City; sons, Anthony (Trista) of Rapid City, Jonathon (Kirsten) of Belle Fourche; 11 grandchildren,  Rhen, Bailey, John, Brennan, Austin, Haley, Hannah, Elena, Brayden, Aleyah and Kaylyn; 1 great grandson, Benjamin; mother, Betty Jean Eixenberger  of Spearfish; 5 sisters, Margaret Koch of Rapid City SD, Mary (David) Klein of Albuquerque NM, Linda (Mark) Crabill of Kansas City KS, Elizabeth (Scott) Higbee of St. Paul, MN, Laurie (Brad) Brunner of Vale SD; 3 brothers, Tom (Sandy) Eixenberger of Spearfish, Dr. Tim (Theresa) Eixenberger of Clearwater FL, Lt. Col. Michael Eixenberger, retired of Alexandria VA; and her father-in-law, Felix Carbajal Sr. of Belle Fourche.  She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Elida (Jerry) Jones of Boise ID, Mary (Mike) Christensen of Sun City FL, Dale Sprague of Belle Fourche; brother-in-law, Ben (Kathleen) Carbajal; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Jeremiah; father, Edward Eixenberger; and mothers in-law, Trini Carbajal and Lois Carbajal.
