Clyde, age 84 of Belle Fourche, died Wednesday October 21, 2015 at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Sturgis. The funeral service will be held 3:30 pm Saturday October 24th, 2015 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Belle Fourche. Visitation will be held 4 to 6pm Friday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Interment will take place 10 am Monday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle, WY. Memorials are preferred to the extended care service unit at Fort Meade VA Medical Center in Sturgis.Kenneth Gordon Clyde was born January 11, 1931 in Longpine, Nebraska. He was the son of Leonard and Lucy (Smith) Clyde. Ken grew up on the family farm near Longpine and in 1949 he graduated from the Ainsworth High School. On July 7, 1951 he was united in marriage to Leta K. Bock. To this union 4 children were born: Kathy, Beverly, Cynthia, and Steve. Following their marriage the couple lived at Osage WY for a short time before moving to Junction City KS in 1952 and to Marysville CA in 1953. In 1954 they returned to Osage where they lived for 20 years. During the Korean War, Ken served in the U.S. Army, from 1952 to 1954. During this time he learned their language and did what he could to help the poor people in the area. Ken worked several years for Baroid Industries, operating their laboratory and other positions. In 1974 Ken and Leta moved to Colony and in 1980 they moved to Lovell WY. Leta died in 1984. On April 21, 2001, Ken was married to Larine Verhulst-Mott in Belle Fourche. One week before their marriage, Ken was baptized into the Catholic Church at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Together they were blessed with almost 15 years of marriage. Ken was talented with electronics and repaired televisions for many people at no charge. He had high expectations for himself and those who worked under him respected him very much. Ken also enjoyed gardening and sharing the produce with his neighbors and friends. Ken was a special husband, father and grandfather, and he will be greatly missed. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Larine of Belle Fourche; children, Kathy (Wayne) Wood of Gray, Maine, Beverly (Dan) Quackenbush of Lompoc, CA, Cynthia (Howard) Biegert of Belle Fourche, Steve (Jinger) Clyde of Belle Fourche; 16 grandchildren;3 step-grandchildren; many great grandchildren; step-son, Shane (Maggie) Mott of Columbus OH; sister, Evelyn Burton of Nevada; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leta; brothers, Delbert and Delmar; and sister, Madine Allen.
