Patricia Monson

Patricia J. Monson, age 77 of Newell, died Thursday, December 10th, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle against cancer. The funeral service will be held 11am Monday, December 21st at the Prairie Home Church, near Faith. Visitation will be held 3 to 6pm Sunday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Interment will take place at Monument Hill Cemetery, near Mud Butte. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Patricia Jean McIntyre was born February 11, 1938 in Houtdzdale, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Roy and Pearl (Robeson) McIntyre. At an early age, Patricia moved with her family to Euclid, Ohio where she graduated from high school. On August 8, 1958 she was united in marriage to Roger Monson, in Euclid, Ohio. To this union four children were born: Keith, Sherry, Lori, and Kimberly. Following their marriage they moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where Pat attended Crown College. Throughout their marriage, Roger and Pat have lived in several communities where Roger served several churches as their Pastor, and Pat as a faithful and very helpful “Pastor’s Wife”. These areas included Stratton NE, Grand Island NE, Northfield MN, Gackle ND, Custer SD, Albion NE. Since 2003 they have lived in Newell SD, serving the Prairie Home Church located near Faith. Pat will be remembered for having a special gift at mailing cards to people all over the country. She had a very large card ministry, encouraging many people. She was a sports enthusiast and was devoted to watching her children and now her grandchildren participate in sports of all kinds. She led many Bible studies, taught Sunday School and VBS, not to mention Christmas programs. She played piano and organ at church and was a prayer warrior for many. She was kind, humble, and never wanted the spotlight for herself. During her fight against cancer, she never once uttered a complaint. She was special and she will be missed by her friends and family very much. Patricia is survived by her husband, Roger of Newell; son, Keith (Fran) of Wisbech Cambs England; daughters, Sherry (Glen) Morovits of Trinidad CO, Lori Petsch of Deadwood, Kimberly (Mike) Sims of Billings MT; 7 grandchildren, Josh (Larissa) Morovits, Jami (Danny) Battochio, Kelsey Morovits, Jarret Petsch, Jaci Petsch; Brooklyn and Cadence Sims; 4 great grandchildren, Maci, Noah, and Aaron Morovits, and Easton Battochio. She is also survived by her 3 sisters, Montrue Mandato of Willoughby, OH, Kay Cardinal of Baldwin WI, and Jackie Stokes of Euclid OH.
