Steve Corbin Johnson age 47 of Gillette, WY, died Friday May 22, 2009 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, WY. The funeral service will be held 2pm Tuesday May 26, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Belle Fourche with Rev. Gail Arnold officiating. Visitation will be held 5 to 7pm Monday at Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery, in Spearfish. Arrangements are with Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Steve Corbin Johnson was born January 29, 1962 in Bismarck, North Dakota. He was the son of Corbin Johnson and Lu Ann Evridge. Steve grew up in the Lemmon and Buffalo areas, and in 1980 he graduated from the Buffalo High School. In 1984, he became a graduate of South Dakota State University. On May 31, 1985 Steve was married to Shari Simmons in Belle Fourche. To this union, three sons were born: Cole, Clay, and Cord. Following their marriage, Steve and Shari lived in Lemmon for a short time before moving to Texas where they raised their family and lived for 19 years. Since 2005 they have lived in Gillette, Wyoming. Steve will be remembered for love of rodeo and team roping. He passed on his passion for team roping to his 3 boys. His devotion to team roping gave him the idea to manufacture Velvet Ropes. He enjoyed raising Corriente cattle and putting on team roping at his Texas home. Steve is survived by his wife, Shari and their 3 sons, Cole, Clay, and Cord, all of Gillette WY; his father, Corbin (Suzie) Johnson of Morristown, SD; mother, Lu Ann (Ray) Ericsson of Spearfish; sister, Deb (Mike) Kisgen of Gillette WY; brothers, Joe (Cindy) Painter of Buffalo SD; sisters, Laurie (Terry) Goehring of Buffalo SD, Cindy Lou (Bill) Mankin of Gillette WY, Judy (Marty) Melvin of Keller TX, Kandi (Steve) Smith of Normal IL, Staci (Scott) Stern of Freeman SD, and Jami (George) Mendoza of Timber Lake SD. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Dennis (Phyllis) Simmons of Belle Fourche; and sister-in-law, Cindy (Todd) Goeringer of Belle Fourche. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; step-father, Paul Painter; mother-in-law, Donna Simmons; and brother-in-law, Harold Routier.
