* Video Tribute Can Be Viewed Below * Janie Millett, age 54 of Belle Fourche, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. The funeral service will be held 1pm Thursday, January 19th, 2017 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Visitation will take place 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, with a prayer service at 6pm. Interment will take place in Pine Slope Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Slim Buttes Lutheran Church Radio Broadcast. Janie Marie Stang was born February 17, 1962 in Spearfish. She was the daughter of Christ and Connie (Schaffner) Stang. In 1966, Janie moved with her family to Cottonwood, CA where she lived until 1979 when she moved to Sturgis. She graduated from Brown High School in 1980, and following her graduation she attended Black Hills State University for one year, majoring in Accounting. Janie was united in marriage to Mark Millett on August 21, 1982 in Sturgis. To this union two children were born: Eric and Megan. Following their marriage, Mark and Janie ranched for several years, 5 miles south of Reva. In 2014 they moved to Belle Fourche, due to Janie’s declining health. Janie was a member of Slim Buttes Lutheran Church. She enjoyed helping with the children’s ministries. For two years, she worked at the ASCS office in Buffalo. Janie loved working with crafts. She made candles and soap and she enjoyed quilting and scrapbooking. She also restored woodwork. She was a great cook, and enjoyed canning. She loved her family very much and she had many friends. Her slogan in life these last few years has been: “Live Well – Laugh Often – Love Much”. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Janie is survived by her husband, Mark of Belle Fourche; son Eric (Debbie) of Belle Fourche; daughter, Megan Millett of Minneapolis; 5 grandchildren, Kiah, Kendal, Hailey, Paityn, and Jaxon Millett; mother, Connie (Larry) Plaggemeyer of Sturgis; brother, Christ (Rhonda) Stang of Hettinger; sister, Danelda Birge of Hettinger; and two nieces, Christine Birge and Emory Millett. She was preceded in death by her father, Christ Stang; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Dorothy Schaffner; and paternal grandparents, Kristan and Wanda Stang.
