~ Video Tribute Can Be Viewed Below ~ Thomas J. McCoy, age 96 of Belle Fourche, died Friday, September 22, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. The funeral service will be held 10 am Monday, September 25th, 2017 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Visitation will begin at 7am on Monday. Interment will be held in Pine Slope Cemetery, in Belle Fourche. Thomas John McCoy was born September 4, 1921 in Dresden, Kansas. He was the son of John and Delma (Fortin) McCoy. Tom attended the Green Valley School through eighth grade, and then graduated from the Hoxie High School in 1940. He later moved north of Seldin Kansas where he farmed and raised livestock. In 1953 he married Melba Richardson. She was the love of his life for 64 years. To this union, 5 sons were born: Jim, Neal, Dave, Tom Jr., and Steve. In 1955 they moved to Zeona, South Dakota where they raised sheep, and cattle, and farmed. In 1966, Tom and Melba purchased a farm east of Belle Fourche, where they have lived since. Tom was a hard worker who knew how to get through difficult times in ranch life. In his younger days, he enjoyed dancing on a Saturday night. He loved his wife very much, and always made sure the wife and kids were taken care of. He will be missed greatly by them all. Tom is survived by his wife, Melba of Belle Fourche; sons, Jim (Fran) of Belle Fourche, Neal (Kristi) of Belle Fourche, Dave of Maple Valley WA, Tom Jr. of Belle Fourche; 12 grandchildren: Wyatt, Katie, Bailey, John, DezerRey, Colt, Sean, Jacob, Stevie, Trent, Jenna, Lyman,; 7 great grandchildren: Thomas, Fiona, Laynee, Kaleah, Troy, Justis, Hunter; sister, Mary Ann Jones of Wichita KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve; and 2 sisters, Edith Criswell and Jeanie Spressor.
