Allan Edwin Collins was born November 15, 1961 in Rapid City. He was the son of Marvin and Joan (Wilcox) Collins. Allan grew up in Belle Fourche and graduated from high school with the Class of ’80. His father, Marvin, was a well-known person in town because he delivered bread to people’s homes for many years. Allan had many fond memories of riding on the “Bread Truck” with his dad, and together they enjoyed living out many of Allan’s great memories in life, especially camping together and fishing on Pactola Lake and Iron Creek as well. In 1984, Allan was united in marriage to Renee Stevens at the St. James Lutheran Church. To this union two sons were born: Ryan and Justin. For several years, Allan built homes in the area with Kenny Thomas. For 20 years he worked at American Colloid, and for the past 25 years he was the Purchasing Manager for True North Steel. Purchasing steel that was used to make bridges and buildings was a job that Allan truly loved.

Allan was a cowboy at heart. When he was a kid, he learned how to rope a calf, and eventually he learned the art of team roping. He was a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Allan will be remembered for his kind hearted ways, how he would help anybody that needed it, his independent spirit, and how much he loved his boys.

Allan was diagnosed with brain cancer only 68 days before he died. In that short time, Allan showed his courage and strength, and fought hard. He went home to heaven at that age of 64 on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Allan was a dedicated husband and father and he will be greatly missed by his family.

Allan is survived by his wife, Renee; sons, Ryan of Gillette WY, Justin of Ludlow SD; sister, Shelly Royer of Sturgis; brothers, Danny “Boone” (Caren) Collins of Sturgis, Marvin (Kristy) Collins of Sacramento CA, Joe (Kristin) Collins of Tea SD, Jim Collins of Belle Fourche; mother-in-law, Phyllis Stevens of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob; and father-in-law, Richard Stevens.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30am Thursday, October 22, 2026 at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche. Visitation will be held 5 to 7pm Wednesday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Interment will take place in Pine Slope Cemetery.
