Ann was born August 27, 1928 in Lead, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Harry and Minnie (Rovere) Antrim. Ann grew up in Lead. She received her education at Lead Public Schools and graduated from Lead High School in 1946. While growing up, Ann assisted her mother with duties at the Homestake Mansion and the Lead Country Club. After graduation, Ann worked as a telephone operator in Lead and also Spearfish. Anna Laura Lee met the love of her life, Theodore James “Ted” Olson at a country dance at the Spearfish Park Pavilion. While Ted was home on furlough from the Army, they were united in marriage on July 24, 1951 at the United Methodist Church in Belle Fourche. Following their marriage, Ann joined Ted at Camp McCoy Wisconsin. In August of 1952,
Ann returned home to await the birth of their first daughter, Barbara Ann. Ted and Ann, with their daughter Barbara lived in Belle Fourche before moving to their ranch located 12 miles east of Belle Fourche near Orman Dam. It was here a second daughter, Linda Lee, was born. Ann was a member of the Orman-Arpan Community Club, and she held numerous offices in Farm Bureau, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Extension, Red Hats, and served as a leader for the Girl Scouts and 4-H club. In January of 2011, Ann and Ted moved into Belle Fourche. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She made each and everyone of her family feel loved. Some of her greatest pleasures in life came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Watching their activities kept her young at heart. Ann was a wonderful woman who loved her family and shared time, knowledge, skills, materials, and talents with others. She was an avid “keeper” of family history and she enjoyed compiling it. If anyone in the family had a question, Ann would always have the answer. She loved playing cards and games with her family.
Ann will be fondly remembered for the love she had for her husband, her daughters, and their families. Those who knew Ann will remember her for her caring, and sharing herself with other people. Ann will now complete her long-awaited reunion with her loving husband. She will be dancing on the streets of gold with Ted and having a beautiful reunion with her loved ones and friends who have gone before her.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Ted; parents, Harry and Minnie Antrim; and brother, Robert Antrim. Ann’s spirit now lives on through her daughters, Barbara (Jeff) Ogaard of Rapid City, and Linda (Ron) Swan of Belle Fourche; 5 grandchildren, James (Chelsie) Ogaard, Matthew (Kellie) Ogaard, Travis Swan, Ashley (Marshall) Wells, and Kelli (Travis) Escott; and 10 great grandchildren, Olivia, Mason, Kylee, Bayleigh, Hope, Kinnley, Piper, Jax, Oaklee, and Truett.
