Obituary

Beverly Mattson, age 91 of Casper WY, died Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Edgewood Vista Senior Living Center in Spearfish SD.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 12 noon Friday, April 10, 2026 at the First Christian Church in Casper WY. Inurnment will take place 9:30am Friday, April 10, 2026 at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery in Evansville WY. Funeral arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche SD. Beverly Ann Thompson was born November 22,1934 in Richmond Missouri. She was the daughter of Forrest and Eunice (Keyes) Thompson. Beverly grew up in Richmond where she graduated from high school in 1952. In 1956 she graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Nursing. In 1958 she was united in marriage to Earnest Scott Jr., “Scotty”. Prior to their divorce in 1974, Beverly and Scotty lived in Moscow ID, Jackson WY, Carlsbad NM, Sequoia-Kings Canyon Nat’l Park in CA, Coulee Dam Nat’l Park in WA, Mt. McKinley Nat'l. Park in AK, Dinosaur Nat’l Park in UT, Yellowstone Nat’l Park in WY, and Casper Wyoming. In 1981, Beverly was united in marriage to Roger Mattson. For many years they lived in Casper. Roger died in 1999. For the past few years, Beverly has lived in Spearfish SD to be closer to her family.

Beverly was a Registered Nurse for many years. In her career she worked as an O.R. Nurse or as a Staff Nurse in most of the towns she lived. From 1974 – 1984 she was a Registered Nurse at the Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper. Beverly was also a member of the First Christian Church in Casper, where she was a long-time member of the choir. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, A.A.U.W., Viva La Joie, and Red Hatters Meadowlarks Chorus. Beverly excelled in her career in nursing. Traveling was something she enjoyed to do, and she loved her beloved dog, Scruffy who died in 2001.

Beverly is survived by her children: Karla Scott of Newcastle WY, Kelly (Gabby) Bush of Belle Fourche SD, Lance (Leah Glenn) Mattson of Albuquerque, NM; step-children, Linda Mattson of Daly City, CA, Nancy (Jeff Ryan) Mattson of Tacoma, WA, Roger “Chip” Mattson of Casper WY; grandchildren, Alexandra, Paige, Elena, and Adam. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger Mattson; and sister, Martha Lee.
