Bill Harrison

Bill Harrison, age 72 of Belle Fourche, died Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at the Monument Health Spearfish Hospital.

A memorial service will be held 10am Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, with Pastor Tom Martin officiating. Emmett William Harrison was born April 20, 1953 in Valentine, Nebraska. He was the son of Robert and Hazel (Leighton) Harrison. Bill grew up near White River and moved to Nisland in 1963. He graduated from the Newell High School in 1973 and attended Western Dakota Tech where he earned a degree in auto mechanics. Bill’s love in life was cars. He loved to race them, and he loved the repair work, which he did most of his life. For several years he worked at area car dealerships such as Rainbow Chevrolet, Hersrud’s of Belle Fourche, Letellier Motors, and Deadwood Motors. In the early 1990’s, Bill started his own business, Bill’s Repair which he owned and operated for the rest of his life. In 1980 he was married to Starla Thornhill. They later divorced. From 1983 to 1988, Bill enjoyed competing in drag racing at the Dakota Inter Mountain Speedway, located on the north side of Belle Fourche. He also was an avid pool player, and he enjoyed bowling.

Bill is survived by his son, Maklain Harrison of Gillette WY; daughters, Makayla (Shaun) Sulzbach of York Nebraska, Samantha (Michael) Pettit of Wagner SD; 7 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Shirley Bethancourt of Belle Fourche, Mary Crane of Black Hawk; and nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Jan Cummings and Kay Linch.
