Carroll Tope, age 85 of Belle Fourche, died Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30am Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place in Pine Slope Cemetery. Friends may leave written condolences online at: www.LeveringtonFH.com
Carroll Dean Tope was born December 5, 1936 in Belle Fourche. He was the son of Howard and Mary (Scotney) Tope. Carroll graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1956. Two years later he was united in marriage to Donna Rae Moore on May 31, 1958. To this union, three children were born: Milton, Troy, and Tammy. Following their marriage, Carroll and Donna lived in Cody WY for about one year. He also lived in Eagle Butte for one year, before returning to Belle Fourche, where they have lived since. Carroll was a talented bricklayer for many years. He worked for several businesses in the area, including Junior Henderson Masonry for over 25 years. Carroll excelled in his job because of his speed, his work ethic, and the quality of his workmanship. Throughout his career, he did brick work for several buildings in Belle Fourche and the surrounding area, including Montana and Wyoming. At they age of 72 he retired. For the past 12 years he has been a survivor of several heath issues, and fought them one by one. An ATV accident that occurred 12 years ago started it all. But Carroll was a fighter and he never let his health concerns get in the way from living a good life.
Carroll and Donna enjoyed 64 years of marriage. He will be remembered for always being a family man. He loved this family and was very proud of all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a known to be a quiet and reserved man who enjoyed the outdoors. Golfing, bowling, fishing and hunting were things he enjoyed. In his childhood he had fond memories of his aunt, Mae Scotney. Aunt Mae provided him many meals and many memories when Carroll was young. Carroll will be missed by his family and friends.
Carroll is survived by his wife, Donna of Belle Fourche; Sons, Milton (Janelle) of Belle Fourche, Troy (Vickie) of Hulett WY; daughter, Tammy (Tim) Hawkins of Belle Fourche; 6 grandchildren: Kaysie, Ty, Jeri Ann, Bonnie, Jessica, Lauren; 19 great grandchildren; sister, Lorretta Johnson of Torrington WY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard (and Marlene), and Wilfred; and brother-in-law, Bill Johnson.
