ClaraAnn Norlin, of Belle Fourche, passed away peacefully at Legacy Living Center in Gillette, Wyoming on December 2, 2025.
ClaraAnn was born September 13, 1934 to Mildred (Enerson) and Alf Hegge. She joined a brother, Hollis. She spent her early years on the family ranch near Albion, Montana, close to her beloved grandmother, “Gammer.” She told stories about her dad driving her and Hollis to the Albion school and shooting jackrabbits on the way. Ranch life was a tough life where hard winters and the loss of a sheep crop forced her family to move to Belle Fourche. After the family moved to town, she was blessed with two younger sisters, Dinah and Sue. ClaraAnn attended school in Belle Fourche and graduated in 1952. While in school, she met Earl Norlin and they married on January 1, 1953 and had four children, Mike, Mark, MyraLee and Monte. ClaraAnn worked at the telephone office and then became a bookkeeper for many businesses in Belle Fourche, including Grover Hoffman Propane, Carl’s Trailer Sales, and Hill’s Interiors. She loved the challenge of making books balance. As a side job, she started a catering business, where she loved saying, “I feed barrel racers and team ropers.” She continued her catering business for more than 30 years.
ClaraAnn loved being a “mom” but loved being a “grandma” even more. It was her goal to be as good of a grandma, as her own grandma had been. She also loved Belle Fourche and became involved in many aspects of the town. ClaraAnn was on the city council, the Black Hills Roundup committee, and even served as the parade marshal one year. She also enjoyed it when our dear friend, Kelly, would take her to church services.
ClaraAnn is survived by her children, Mike (Janie) Norlin of Belle Fourche, Mark Norlin of Graham, Washington, MyraLee (Pat) Duffy of Moorcroft, Wyoming; her beloved grandchildren, Livvy Rieger, Ben Norlin, Natosha Norlin, Anisa Parks, Miranda Schelske, Megan Rosenau, Miles Duffy and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alf and Mildred Hegge, her brother, Hollis Hegge, her former husband, Earl Norlin, and her son, Monte Norlin.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the Summit Open Bible Church in Belle Fourche, with Pastors Rick Brennan and Donavon Voigt officiating. Following the service, a lunch of favorite foods from “ClaraAnn’s Catering” will be served. Inurnment will take place in Pine Slope Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.
