Obituary

C. Darlene Harms was born June 11, 1935 in Madison, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Hjelmer and Marie (Larson) Arneson. At a young age, Darlene moved with her family to George, Iowa where she grew up and attended school. Darlene was united in marriage to Stanley Harms on December 23, 1954 in George Iowa. To this union four children were born: Brian, Randi, Dana, and Connie.

Stan and Darlene were blessed with 71 years of marriage to the day. During their first several years of marriage, Stan and Darlene lived in different areas of America, due to Stan’s service in the U.S. Navy. The first place they lived was Jacksonville, Florida. In 1975, Stan retired from the Navy, and they moved to Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. In 1978 they moved to Belle Fourche, where they lived and raised their family, for many years. While Stan worked many years in county government, Darlene was at home, helping raise the children, and providing a wonderful family environment. For the past year, Stan and Darlene have lived in Cheyenne WY. She loved playing Bridge card games, and was part of a Bridge Club. She also was a member of the PEO, the Belle Fourche Global Methodist Church, and in her younger years she volunteered in many ways, including helping with hair stylings at the nursing home. Darlene will be greatly missed by her family.

Darlene went home to heaven at the age of 90, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She is survived by her loving husband, Stanley of Cheyenne WY; and children, Brian (Jean) Harms of George, IA, Randi (Mike) Todd of Cheyenne WY, Dana (Randy) Adkisson of Johnstown CO, Connie (Preston) Hesselgesser of Houston TX.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marilyn Fredrickson, Evelyn Morrison; and twin brother, Darrell Arneson.

Private family services will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.
