Douglas Frank Mednansky was born June 6, 1961 in Belle Fourche.  He was the son of Frank and Minerva (Leopold) Mednansky.  Doug grew up in Belle Fourche, where he graduated from high school in 1979.  After high school, he attended Black Hills State University.  On July 23, 1983, Doug was united in marriage to VaLynn Wendland at the St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche.  To this union 3 sons were born: Aaron, Eric, and Michael.  Doug loved his boys very much and they made him very proud.  In 1976, Doug started working with his dad at Mednansky Oil in Newell.  Then in 1992, Doug moved into the insurance industry with Farmers Insurance and Center of the Nation Insurance.  In 2001, Doug established Eagle Enterprises LLC where he worked as an energy consultant.  Doug enjoyed his role of helping people conserve energy and save money on their electrical needs.

For almost all of his life, Doug lived in the same house which was something that made him proud.  He loved music and he especially loved southern gospel music by Bill Gaither.  Just last year, Doug and VaLynn took a cruise of a lifetime with the Gaither’s and the music and the fun was fabulous.  Doug was a man with a great sense of humor.  He was passionate about many things; he was generous and he had a great heart.  He loved his grandchildren so much.  They filled his heart.  He also loved his wife.  She was his best friend, and he always said she was a saint to him.  Doug will be missed greatly by his family and his friends.

Doug is survived by his wife VaLynn of Belle Fourche; 3 sons, Aaron (Callie) of Rapid City, Eric of Belle Fourche, Michael (Rachel) of Janesville WI; 5 grandchildren, Grace, Abigail, James, Hadley, and Adeline.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his aunt and uncle, Harvey and Margaret Leopold.
