Janice Leigh Schopp was born December 29, 1959 in Lemmon, South Dakota.  She was the daughter of Fred and Beverly (Becker) Schopp.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Lemmon.  Jan grew up on the family ranch near Meadow, and attended the Athboy Country School for 8 years.  Jan graduated from the Lemmon High School in 1978.  After high school, Jan attended Black Hills State University where she studied special education.  Following her college years, Jan work for the Northern Hills Training Center in Spearfish.  In 1984, Jan met Tim Moore.  To this union their son, Jacoebi was born in 1986.  From 1987 until 1991 Tim and Jan lived in Ohio.  In 1991 they moved to Belle Fourche where they have lived since.

For many years, Jan was the manager at Pizza Hut in Belle Fourche.  During those years she was honored many times with plaques and achievement awards.  For more than 20 years, Jan helped the Pizza Hut in Belle Fourche be the top seller of pizzas in the Black Hills area.  It was a job that she excelled at.  Her customers loved going there, her staff loved working for her, and Jan would always look for job opportunities for her friends at Northern Hills Training Center.  In 2016 her time at Pizza Hut came to a close, and it was a great loss in her life.  Afterwards, Jan spent much time on the home ranch near Meadow, caring for her parents and helping them.  Jan was a very caring and kind person and she had a great big heart.  She was nurturing and motherly to her friends, family, and even her Pizza Hut employees.  She enjoyed cross-stitching, word puzzles, and being in the outdoors.  She loved gardening, and especially growing strawberries.  She was a loving mother as well.  Jan was a one of a kind, and she will be greatly missed.

Janice is survived by her son, Jacoebi (Merrissa) Moore of Belle Fourche; her partner for 38 years, Tim Moore of Belle Fourche; sisters, Laurie (Dan) Hoff of Lemmon, Connie (Bob) Hourigan of Lemmon; brother, Raymond (Julie) Schopp of Meadow; brother-in-law, Mike (Siblut) Ginther of Lemmon; nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Beverly Schopp; and 2 sisters, Sherry Schopp and Kayleen Ginther.
