Jeff Helmer

Jeff Helmer, age 71 of Belle Fourche, went home to heaven on Thursday, July 31, 2025 following a sudden cardiac event at his home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10am Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Interment will take place at Pine Slope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Belle Fourche Public Library or the Belle Fourche Ambulance Service.

Jeffrey Rand Helmer was born March 26, 1954 in Belle Fourche. He was the son of Glenn and Betty (Russell) Helmer. Jeff grew up on the family farm near Belle Fourche, and lived his whole life there. He was united in marriage to Deborah Hill in 1981 at his home. Jeff worked at American Colloid for 43 years, retiring in June of 2024.

Jeff enjoyed reading, walking and hiking, puzzles, and puttering outside. He loved the home where he lived, and sitting on his deck, enjoying the solitude of the outdoors, was his favorite way of relaxing. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandpa. He will be missed greatly by his family.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Deborah of Belle Fourche; 3 daughters, Tuula Helmer of Rapid City, Abbey (Justin) Steber of Newcastle WY, Minna (Steve) Biehl of Belle Fourche; 8 grandchildren, Brennan, Owen, Nate, Natalia, Tavey, Griffen, Macy, Jacob; 2 great granddaughters, Emma and Blossom. He is also survived by his 2 sisters, Sandra (Mike) Baker of St. Onge, Jennifer (Bob) LeVee of Gillette WY; mother-in-law, Carol Hill of Rapid City; brother-in-law, John (Dawnna) Hill of Ralston, NE; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Jack Hill.
