LaWayne Perry Larson was born May 26, 1961 in Belle Fourche.  He was the son of Dean and Betty (Hendrickson) Larson.  LaWayne grew up near Colony Wyoming and graduated from the Belle Fourche High School in 1979.  He attended Western Dakota Tech, where he studied Auto Body.  For a period of time, LaWayne worked at Wayne’s Conoco in Belle Fourche and the Baroid plant at Colony.  In the mid 1980’s he moved to Texas where he lived in College Station and Houston.  During those years he worked for Schwan’s as well as working in the oilfield business, occasionally getting to work on off-shore oil rigs.  In 1993 he moved to Rapid City where he worked for Albertson’s and Ridco Jewelers from 1993-2003.  He was united in marriage to Debra Hood in 1994, at Silver City.  To this union was born a son, Gavin.  LaWayne and Debra later divorced.

LaWayne enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was hunting and fishing, or gardening.  He was always proud of his gardens, especially the big sunflowers he liked to grow.  He had a great personality and loved to fool anyone with a joke or a prank.  He was also a talented salesman.  He could have sold ice to an Eskimo.  Whatever he did, he was good at it.   He loved to laugh and make people laugh, and many memories were made of his practical jokes.  He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing and will be greatly missed.

LaWayne is survived by his son, Gavin of Denver CO; sisters, Deb (Dan) Bestgen of Rapid City, Sheri (Jeremy) Christiansen of Laurel NE; brother, Stuart (Mary) Larson of Salina KS and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Betty Larson; Cousin Jan (Wolff) Kennedy and infant sister, Wanda Lee Larson.
