Loraine Henwood

Loraine Henwood, age 93 of Belle Fourche, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the Rolling Hills Health Care in Belle Fourche.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 pm Monday, July 12^th, 2021 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.  Inurnment will take place in Rosehill Cemetery, in Spearfish.  There will be no visitation.

Loraine Speidel was born December 29, 1927 in Wishek, North Dakota.  She was the daughter of Jacob and Christina Speidel.  Loraine attended high school in Belle Fourche and was married to Robert Henwood on March 18, 1945.  Following their marriage, they ranched near Aladdin Wyoming and later moved to other ranches in Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota.  In 1962 they moved east of Belle Fourche and in 1963 she started running the Camp Crook mail route.  For 38 years Loraine ran that route, retiring in 2001. 

Loraine loved her grandchildren and always enjoyed taking care of them.  She volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program.

Loraine is survived by her sons, Bob of Belle Fourche, Tom (Becky) of Fruitdale; daughters, Barb (Byron) Davis of Colony, Bev (Gene) Inhofer of Belle Fourche; 6 grandchildren, Jan, Kathy, Sheryl, Rob, J.D, Travis.; 9 great grandchildren, Kyle, Tyrel, Tate, Sydney, Jake, Carson, Charlie, Tommy, Roy; 4 great great grandchildren, Gracie, Wesley, Waylon, Cayde; sister, Donna Lamb of Sundance WY; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Robert; brothers, Ted, Edwin, Ben, Jake, and Gottlieb Speidel; and sisters, Ida Letterman and Edna Barnhart.
