Mary Ann Smith, age 74 of Belle Fourche, and formerly Buffalo, died Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Rolling Hills Healthcare Center in Belle Fourche.

A memorial service will be held 3pm Sunday, January 3^rd, 2021 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.  Inurnment will be done privately.  There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Mary Ann Lopez was born August 27, 1946 in Belle Fourche. She was the daughter of Vincent and Mary (Cordova) Lopez.   Mary Ann was married to George Raefield Smith in 1968, in Sturgis.  To this union was born three children: daughter, Leann and twin boys, Glen and George Jr.   For many years, the family lived in Reeder ND where George worked for Reeder Equity.  Later they moved to Poplar MT, but eventually they retired in Buffalo.  Following George’s death in 2008, Mary moved to Belle Fourche where she has lived since.

For several years, Mary Ann worked at Leone Moncur’s private nursing home as a nurses aid and custodian.  She was known for her independent spirit, being a great cook, and her gift of hospitality.  She loved her family very much, and she will be greatly missed.

Mary Ann is survived by her sons, George Jr. of Belle Fourche, Glen (Dorinda) of Gillette WY; daughter, Leann (Robert) Camirand of Christmas Valley OR; grandchildren, Shayde, Taten, Tucker, Glen Jr. “Paco”, C’era, Echo, Saunda, Shalayna, Hailey, Kaden, George III, Nicholas, and Brett; 1 great granddaughter, Madalynn; 5 great grandsons, Stace, Kodak John, Brody, Chase, Peyton; 5 sisters, Janet (Homer) Collins of Fruitdale, Clara Perez of Belle Fourche, Josephine Millis of Belle Fourche, Nellie Brown of Gillette WY, Nikki Rodriguez of CA; 2 brothers, Art (Roseanne) Lopez of Belle Fourche, Tony Lopez of NV; and several other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Tyrel; and brothers, Alfred and Robert Lopez.
