Peter Tokley, age 77, of Belle Fourche, died Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at his home, with his loving wife by his side.

The funeral service will be held 10:30am Tuesday, August 14^th, 2018 at the Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche.  Visitation will take place 5 to 7pm Monday at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche, and one hour prior to the service at the church. 

Peter John Tokley was born July 7, 1941 in Braintree, England.  He was the son of Cyril and Dorothy (Mynard) Tokley.  Peter grew up and attended school in Braintree.  Following high school, he took his fathers advice and searched for a job that he would love.  During these years he held countless jobs, including work as a milk delivery man, farm hand, Lorry Driver, and many others.  He was married to Dawn Symonds and to this union a son, Peter Jr. was born.  They later divorced.  In the early 1960’s, Peter lived in New Zealand and Australia.  In 1972 he came to America and in 1974 he settled in Newell, where he became the first certified city policeman.  In 1978 he moved into Belle Fourche and worked for the Belle Fourche Police Department until 1986.  In 1986 he worked as an over the road truck driver. In 1988, Peter was married to Lori Mednansky.  Following their marriage, they lived in Belle Fourche.   In 1993 he began work for the Butte County Highway Department, retiring in 1996. 

Peter will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his love for motorcycles and pocket watches, guns, and the outdoors.  He loved to hunt and ride his bike with his wife by his side.  He enjoyed refinishing gun stocks as well.  Peter was a kind and gentle man, and he will be greatly missed.

Peter is survived by his wife, Lori of Belle Fourche; brother, Colin (Carol) of Braintree, England; sister, Josie (Fred) Prasser of Flint MI; and several nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Peter Jr.; brothers, Fred, Tony, Mick; and sisters, June Murkin and Rita Hutchins.
