Sandra Lee Hantz was born July 27, 1942 in Belle Fourche. She was the daughter of Ralph and Laurene (Truman) Hantz. She was the only daughter of three children that included her brothers Jack and Jerry Hantz. Sandra was born and raised in Belle Fourche, where she also attended school. On December 21, 1959, Sandra was united in marriage to David H. Walker in Belle Fourche. To this union three children were born: Destyn, Debra, and Dana. In 1965 the family moved to the family ranch north of Alzada MT. There, David and Sandra raised their family and taught their children a strong work ethic. In 1977 it became necessary for Sandra to moved into Belle Fourche so that the children could attend school. So David ranched, and Sandra worked in town so the children were educated, going back to the ranch on weekends. David and Sandra ranched for 35 years and in 1988 they moved into Alzada where they operated the Valley Inn for a number of years. Later they moved to Piedmont, and in 1997 moved to Custer. For the past five years they have lived in Rapid City.
Sandra was a woman who had a great sense of humor, a sharp wit, and the gift of sarcasm. She loved to laugh and her humor got her through many hard times in life. She was a wonderful mother who emptied herself many times to give her children what they needed in life. Sandra was an amazing quilter who liked to stay busy. She did bookkeeping as well. She also enjoyed fishing and camping, and she always had such beautiful flowers, wherever she lived. Sandra always looked sharp when she was going somewhere. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and she will be greatly missed.
Sandra is survived by her husband, David Walker of Rapid City; daughters, Destyn Walker of Aladdin WY, Dana (Daylen) Finck of Piedmont; 4 grandchildren, Bailey, Jace (Emerald), Kyle, Erin (Nick); 2 great grandchildren, Kynlee and Cohen.
Greeting Sandra with open arms on the other side was a joyous crowd of family with daughter Deb, grandson Trevor, and great nephew Jake leading the pack.
