Susan Denise Palmer

Susan Denise Palmer, age 59 of Rapid City, died at her home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

The funeral service will be held 1pm Friday, February 4, 2022 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be held at Pine Slope Cemetery.

Susan Denise Palmer was born March 13, 1962 in Anderson, Indiana.  She was the daughter of John Ray Palmer Sr. and Delores Herman.  Susan grew up in Anderson, where she also graduated from high school.  A short time after her high school graduation, Susan moved to Rapid City.

Susan was born with a disability and the doctors never thought she’d live past 25 and they also thought she’d be blind by the age of 20.  They were very wrong.  Susan lived independently and she was very much self-sufficient.  She was well loved, especially by her community of friends in Rapid City.  She had a kind; sweet spirit and she was very smart.

Susan is survived by her sister, Darlene McKeand of Belle Fourche; brothers, Jim (Dawn) Palmer of Belle Fourche, John (Dianna) Palmer of Belle Fourche; nieces, nephews, and many friends. She is also survived by her boyfriend,  Dan Somber of Rapid City.
