Wayne Everett Wolff was born June 16, 1932 at the family farm home located near Aladdin Wyoming. He was the son of Gust and Alice (Lundblad) Wolff. Wayne grew up on the family farm and attended country school. In 1950 he graduated from the Belle Fourche High School. He also worked at the Sugar Beet Factory near Belle Fourche. During those years he lived with a host family and that house was right next door to the Larson family, and they had a lovely daughter named Mary. Wayne and Mary were married on September 7, 1952 at the Methodist Church in Belle Fourche. . It was through this union that their son Jim and their daughter Janifer were blessed to grow up in a wonderful home and family. Together they were blessed with 73 years of marriage. Following their marriage, Wayne and Mary farmed with Wayne’s family for five years. In 1955 he began working with Larson and Son Construction which was Mary’s father’s business. He worked with him until 1974. Wayne also had a ranch near Colony. In the mid-1950’s he purchased some land there and began ranching. From 1973 to 2011, Wayne served as the Crook County Brand Inspector. Wayne was known as an excellent inspector and he enjoyed the many friendships that came with the job.
Wayne was a faithful member of the Belle Fourche Global Methodist Church. It was rare that he and Mary would miss a Sunday morning worship service. Wayne was a good man who loved the ranch life. He had a great sense of humor and he had a certain way of saying things that would make you smile. He enjoyed traveling, and for the past many years he and Mary enjoyed attending the National Finals Rodeo. Wayne loved his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and they will miss him greatly.
